Ronda... You Did It Again!
With the holidays upon us, there is NO Place for any of our county commissioners to blast great charity work! "The Auction for Angels", a charity helping disables foster children in our area, has there annual charity that raises money to send the kids to camp in the summer. Why is Ronda Storms getting into the middle of a great cause when all she does is bully the sponsors and intimidate them. Joe Redner Enterprises is among the sponsors. If Ronda thinks that the charity should not accept Joe's money  then Hillsborough County should not accept Joe's tax money.

BOO'd Off Stage!!
In case you haven't heard comedian Jerry Lewis was boo' d off stage by disabled people in Chicago. They contend, " We are able and we do not need to be pitied!" We have a personal footnote to this story. Back in 1979 in South Bend , Indiana we were involved in a fundraiser. The local Gay & Lesbian community had raised monies for MDA Telethon "Jerry's Kids". The group went down to the TV station to donated the money on the air, just like everybody else. The local TV Host, on the air said "Jerry's Kids do not accept dirty money from Homosexuals!"

Hello Friends of the TAMPA BAY BEARS,

As hard as it is to believe, the TAMPA BAY BEARS 3RD ANNUAL HOLIDAY CHARITY AUCTION has come and gone...and there are only three words we can use to describe this event:
ONE OVERWHELMING SUCCESS!
Any of you who were in attendance are already aware that the auction room was PACKED from the moment we opened the doors!  We estimate that there were in excess of 500 people who passed through the event that evening, which is a new record for us!
Going into this auction, we were determined to build upon the success of last year's auction, which raised $7,500.00...and we set a very ambitious financial goal this year of $10,000.00
Well, we have the rough numbers in, and we are THRILLED to report that we not only MET our goal, BUT WE SHATTERED IT!
Early numbers show that we raised in the neighborhood of $13,000.00!  That's going to make an enormous positive impact on our three Charities: COMMUNITY AIDS NETWORK, R' CLUB CHILD CARE, and DALMATIAN RESCUE.
Once all the charges go through, the checks clear, and we pay the charge card fees,  we'll let you know the exact net dollar amount, but suffice it to say that we all should take great pride in the fact that our club was able to pull off such a well-received event.
We want to thank all of you who donated items and who sold auction tickets. We also wish to thank those men who took time out of their very busy schedules to help make gift baskets, transport the merchandise, and who worked with us the night of the auction, especially: John Burchett, Jack Graham, Bill Klein, Lee Peter, Matt LaMariana, Charles Reisen, Craig Clark, Evan Seiden,  David Chapman, Mark Mann, Jeff Marcha, Nelson Newton, Roy Livingston, Paul Koshinski,  Ken Bordeau, Carl Davis, David Jackson, Mike McNamara, Eric Lingerfelt, Dusty Rhodes, George Jones, Fred Silverman, Mike Dye and Robb Sanborn.  We truly could not have done this without your generosity of spirit!
A HUGE Thank You to the SUNCOAST RESORT that donated the use of the beautiful auction room, the posters and flyers, a fantastic array of hors d'oeuvres, plus their wonderful staff who assisted us every step of the way! They are a priceless asset to our community!
A special Thank You to UNA VOCE: THE FLORIDA MEN'S CHORALE for lending their amazing talent in the form of a magnificent holiday concert for the auction attendees!  We're so proud to have their support, and NOW it's time to return the favor and support UNA VOCE!
There's no better way to kick off the Holiday Season than to go to the UNA VOCE HOLIDAY CONCERT, titled "OUR HOLIDAY JOURNEY" on Saturday, December 3rd.  To order your tickets for this concert, visit the UNA VOCE website, at:  www.una-voce.com
Again, thanks to everyone whose efforts resulted in a Charity Event in which we can all take great pride!

A Queer Carol

By Joseph Godfrey

It's "homo for the holidays" as Gypsy Productions Inc. announces its revival of A QUEER CAROL, the critically acclaimed play by Joe Godfrey that resets the Dickens holiday classic among a group of gay men in a contemporary city. Co- Directed by Trevor Keller and Derek Baxter and featuring Trevor Keller as Scrooge, the show plays at THE SUNCOAST THEATRE from November 25, 2005 to December 18, 2005 with shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday Matinees at 1:30 P.M.

This contemporary spin on the timeless holiday tale casts the famous characters in a new light. Ebenezer "Ben" Scrooge is a wealthy and prominent interior designer who spends his days decorating the Upper East Side homes of the rich and famous. Assisting Scrooge is none other than the hopelessly overworked Bob Cratchit (Derek Baxter), who must contend with both his employer's abuses and the care of his partner Tim (Christian Maier), an East Village office temp struggling with HIV. When Scrooge huffily dismisses a fundraiser collecting for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, it sets a chain of ghostly visitations into motion, including appearances from the very dead --Jacob Marley (Carlos Milan) as well as the Ghosts Of Christmas Past (Marilyn Monroe) Present (Daryl Epperly, an exuberant drag queen) and Future. Also featured in Gypsy Productions A QUEER CAROL will be Brick, Michael Miller, Jim Whicker, Bill Hendricks as Fezziwig and a very special surprise guest appearance.

The premiere production of "A Queer Carol" wowed audiences and critics alike. Martin Denton from nytheatre.com wrote "The hippest, funniest and warmest stage version of Dickens' story that I've come across this year...you won't find a more good natured or warmhearted holiday treat anywhere in New York." Adrienne Onofri from Curtain Up called the show "a realistic and sensitive depiction of gay life that honors Dickens' message of love, goodwill and charity. It's welcome entertainment for anyone who just can't sit through another airing of 'A Christmas Story' or 'It's a Wonderful Life.'"

The Suncoast Theatre is located on the Property of The Suncoast Resort at 3000 34th Street South, St. Petersburg. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Suncoast Theatre, Box Office, at 456-0500. Tickets are $16.00 ALL ARE WELCOME! State Law requires Photo ID, Handicap Accessible.
