Best Body of the Bay Contest
Over the past Summer, every Sunday at the Suncoast Resort,  there was a winner of the "Best Body of the Bay Contest." This past Sunday all the winners came back to compete for the very Best of the Bay and $1000.00 in cash! The stage was full of Hot & Sexy Guys & Girls and everywhere in between. The competition was hot and fun, full of customers, great dancing music & just a little attitude! Alicia Markstone & Esme Russell entertained the crowd while the judges totaled the results. The people in the audience were just as hot as the contestants and was it just me or did Glenn's, the Suncoast Resort G.M., shirt looked like it matched the bedspreads!
Congratulations to this years Winner,   Michael!

Reports from Leigh Shannon
Hello to all,

WOW, it was a busy couple of weeks for me personally, and I was getting a bit stressed out with  the extra work.  But Headdress Ball 2006 was a big success!  They raised over $250,00.00 plus for the Hope & Help Center Of Orlando.  This organization's goal it to help eliminate the spread of HIV/AIDS and help assist in the education of the disease and to also help support people who are living with it  They do great work and this huge elite event is held every year.

All local celebrities in the television & radio field  always are on hand.  And of course the local celebrities in the gay Community help make it a huge event.  Darcel Stevens, Miss Sammy and myself were the impersonator emcees.  Joellen Taylor was the super auctioneer, Jackie London was my favorite real girl celebrity co host.  I personally think she is more beautiful in person.   Richard Summers and staff put on a great show event and the hard work should not go unnoticed.  It is amazing to me how many people work on this.  The hard work from back to the front was very much noticed!

I have inserted some PICS here from the event, BUT I have also, ATTACHED some extra PICS of the event.  You will want to down load these!  They are really good and will show  a lot of the talent there that night. Do not miss it next year!

I was also at Southern Nights in Orlando last week and the club is on its way back full time.  The crowds are mixed and fun.  I will be there again the 23rd of this month!  Cold Keg this Friday will present DIVAS LIVE, sorta!  LOL  Crystal Chambers and I will be showcasing Bette and Cher this Friday there.  It will be a really fun show.

Well, gotta run for now.  Remember one thing.  If you never had to encounter the bees, you may never get to the honey!

Love ya

FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 17 YEARS OF GAY CINEMA

THREE BAY AREA VENUES HOST SCREENINGS

Schedule for Annual 10-Day Event Includes

Special Events, Panel Discussions

TAMPA, FL, SEPTEMBER 11, 2006 – 132 films from over 20 countries are included in this years line-up of the 17th Annual Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, scheduled to take place from Thurs., Oct. 5 to Sun., Oct. 15, 2006. As evidence of the event’s growing maturity and popularity, screenings will take place at three Bay area venues this year: the historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa, Channelside Cinemas in Tampa’s Channelside District, and Muvico Baywalk 20 in downtown St. Petersburg.

The festival kicks off with a jam-packed opening weekend including a street party on Thurs., Oct. 5, a Gala party on Friday night, and ends with closing day festivities that also celebrate the Tampa Theatre’s 80th anniversary on Sun., Oct. 15. In between, several other special events including filmmaker panel discussions and forums, brunches, happy hours and parties – not to mention the best in queer cinema – will draw up to 12,000 film lovers to one of the country’s largest and longest-running independent gay film festivals.

Joseph Cook, the festival’s program director, says he was determined to focus on two goals as he assembled a “diverse” program committee, visited six film festivals throughout the country and viewed countless film submissions.

“I take the ‘international’ part of our festival's title seriously, so it was important to bring audiences a selection of solid and sophisticated world cinema that inspires and entertains.  At the same time,” Cook continued, “I wanted to bring films to Tampa Bay that would activate our minds, remind us of important issues and introduce new voices.”

To that end, according to Cook, many of this year's films have an “experimental edge” to them, and several potentially controversial themes emerged in films that attempt to address such issues as defining the “gay” or “queer” identity, including transgenderism and transsexualism; the unique experiences of “queer youth”; re-defining traditional concepts of “family” and familial relationships; and political and historical social change.
