CONGRATULATIONS Suncoast Resort!!!!!
Absolutely  Incredible... Turn-A-Bout 2006!
This was the 5th annual benefit to raise funds for "AIDS Service Association of Pinellas, Suncoast Project" & "Pet Pal Rescue." This years theme was "The World Beauty Pageant." The 27 amateur-professional acting entertainers all represented a country. The cast members were from all departments at Suncoast Resort. Their names in order of appearance....Alicia, Glenn, Joan, Mark, Ian, Mickey, Kelli, David W., Sarah, Kevin, Caroline, Marissa, Frankie, David R., Dan, Bob, Ron, Loryl, Joe, Bill, Rodger L., Jae, Rodger C., Michael M., Jonathan, Scott & Connie. The opening number was singing Diva Pink's  "Get this Party Started." The performers were actually suspended from the ceiling like in a Cirque du Soleil act! Miss Angie O' Plasty & Miss Bitters performed "Making Our Dreams Come True", from the Lavern & Shirley Show, on roller skates! Miss Bitters decided to polish the floor while Miss Angie O' Plasty rolled circles aground her. Just before intermission, The Markstone Sisters & The Twat Sisters performed "Cell Block Tango"on a stage complete with cell bars. All the performers were fantastic! Our favorite costume for the night was worn by Miss Phyllis Stein, who performed "Celebrity Skin." Her costume was designed by the "Fashion & Design Institute of Tampa", and was entirely made of old Suncoast Resort staff shirts!!!! All the bartenders, from all the bars at the Suncoast Resort donated their tips that night, as did all the entertainers. The Suncoast Division Softball Team were there doing a raffle. The gift baskets this years were very impressive to say the least! The donations came from across the country. The 21 gift baskets were named after Miss (country) keeping in the World Beauty Pageant theme.
They were auctioned off and raised over $21,000 alone!
May we brag just a little????? The Miss Oman Basket contained Season tickets to the 2007 season at The Suncoast Theatre courtesy of Gypsy Productions; Gift certificates for "Dinner for two" before each performance at the Flamingo at the Suncoast Resort Hotel; Weekend stay at The Suncoast Resort Hotel; Huge Gift Basket courtesy of MC Film Festival. It sold for $900.00. At $3,000.00 the top selling basket was the Miss Israel Basket. She contained, Gift Certificates to; Silverberg's Jewelry, Vasarri Boutique & Bern's Steak House.

The Right to Serve Campaign
Hello Mark and Carrie!

My name is Michael Freincle and I am the city Co Organizer for Tampa's Right To Serve Campaign.  In just 10 days, myself and two other gay youths will attempt to enlist into the Army, protesting Don't Ask, Don't Tell, a law baring gay, lesbian, or bisexual Americans from serving the country they love.  I was wondering if you could send out the following paragraphs to your list serves to help me spread the word.    Thanks! - Mike

Right to Serve – Tampa

On October 6th, three gay American youths will attempt to enlist into the Army in direct defiance of the 13 year old government-sanctioned discrimination labeled “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”  These brave youth will not accept no for an answer.  If they are denied, and with your help, a sit in will occur at the Army recruitment office located at 765 W Brandon Blvd in Country Village Square (just behind Roadhouse grill and next to CVS).

We NEED your support!  Come out and join in our peaceful protest.  If you would like to be apart of this movement, please meet us at the recruitment center at 10 o’clock.  The press conference will begin promptly at 10:30 am, followed by our enlistment and sit in directly afterwards.  The only way this will happen is with YOUR help, so please be there.  Equality and the Right To Serve is worth a day off of work or out of school.  If you would like more information, we will be holding an informational meeting on October 3rd at 5:45 pm in the Tampa Metro Center (6421 N. Florida Ave.  Tampa, Fl)

The Twilight of the Golds

by Jonathan Tolins

Directed by Brick

The Twilight of the Golds by Jonathan Tolins, a poignant contemporary drama that raises issues about genetic research, will be staged at the Suncoast Theater by Gypsy Productions Inc. “The Theatrical Alternative”, October 13, 2006 at 8:00 P.M. to be followed by an Opening Night Reception with Director Brick and the cast. The Twilight of the Golds will run through November 05, 2006 with performances Thursday (2-4-1- night), Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday Matinee at 1:30 P.M.
In The Twilight of the Golds, David Gold, a young gay scenic designer played by Daniel Harris, Gulfport, tells the story of a family caught in crisis and the events that led to his separation from them. As the play unfolds, David’s sister and brother-in-law, a genetic researcher, use a new prenatal test on their unborn child. The results indicate a potential problem that neither parent seems prepared to deal with.
Suzanne Gold-Stein, played by Sara Wilemon, St. Petersburg, and her husband, Rob Stein, played by Brad Minus, Tampa, are forced to decide whether or not they want to have a child who does not meet their expectations.
The entire Gold family is ultimately drawn into the debate. Suzanne is pulled in all directions by her brother, her husband and her parents, Phyllis and Walter Gold, played by Carolyn Zaput, Sarasota, and David Hershman, Gulfport. Although the story is told from David’s point of view, each character is given the opportunity to express his or her views directly to the audience, providing a necessary balance to the debate and an opportunity for audience members to identify with at least one of the characters.
Ultimately, it is a play about a very real dilemma facing modern civilization: given the power of knowledge gained through advances in scientific research, what is the nature of man’s responsibility in using that knowledge? It’s about science versus emotion.
The Suncoast Theatre is located on the property of The Suncoast Resort at, 3000 34th Street South, St. Petersburg. Advanced reservations for all performances are recommended! 2006 All Hallows Ball
A Note from Casper

Casper says many of you have been asking how to contribute to help insure the success of the Annual All Hallows Ball. He says this year in particular, additional help is very important. This is due to time constraints on the availability of the hall at the fairgrounds during the days leading up to the party. Help will also be needed on a couple of the weekends before the party.

If you would like to volunteer some of your time to help build, paint, decorate, etcetera, Casper says to click this link: IwantToHelp@allhallowsball.org. Include your full name, phone number and your Guest-ID (#3221). If you have any special skill, make a note of that too. Casper is aware that the hosts are looking for the volunteers now. So if this is something you'd like to do, he says to send your email today! The hosts need the list of volunteers completed by Friday 9/29.

That's all for now. More to come later...
Casper
