The  Spring Getaway, The Suncoast Resort
What was hotter than the scene around the Suncoast Resort pool this week? Our guess is  NOTHING!!! WOW, WOW!!! Packed with spring breakers and frozen tourists from around the country. With an extra hour of sunshine the T-dance was packed with eye candy. Easily the busiest T of the year so far. It ran late.... On Monday the editors from BUZZ Magazine, Tim & Dale Madison were in town for the "Family Feud" at Georgie's Alibi. Did it get crazy at the TIKI Bar! A leisurely fun sunny drive over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in H.R.H. Princess Priscilla and off to Georgie's Alibi for dinner & "The Feud" hosted by Miami actress Extraordinare, "Miss Nikki Adams!"  Just for the record Judy B. Goode did too push me down!!!

Ybor City New Club Scene
The club scene just got hotter in Ybor City. The 4th GLBT Club just opened. "One Love" www.oneloveybor.com  check out their website for a very impressive line up of live musicians & concerts. "One Love" is located at 1910 E 7th Ave. Across the street you will find "Wranglers." This club is such a Great Supporter of Our Community! Every night they are packing in all the hot cowboys and cowgirls and the city kids who lust over them! Don't miss Joey Brooks and her cast every Sunday night at 9 PM.  Up the street at "Flirt", Darlene has been booking over the top, HOT & FUN drag shows. Now "Flirt" has a new professional web site at http://www.flirtnightclubshowbar.com/ . G. Bar has quickly become quite the high energy dance club  in Ybor under the watchful eyes of Steve & Stephen. There is a new 6 ft mirror ball with lazer light show & shadow box dancers. Is it just us or do they have the best sound system in Town! Coming up Saturday, March 31st will be a fabulous show night ,"One Night in Egypt", complete with camels & street entertainers!  There are rumors of a 5th GLBT club opening soon in Ybor! It looks like things are finally changing for the better in Ybor!

Watermark - Grand Central Station - City Side
Grand Central Station was packed for the annual Watermark Sex & Romance Party. Our favorite adult entertaining star, Vincent Susik  was there wearing a threesome T-shirt. Humm... did he get that shirt off our bedroom floor?  (we only wish!!!) Also at the event was porn star Blake Nolan. This year the event was hosted by Miss ASAP & the staff of Watermark. Oh Boy could she swing a paddle. A certain security person (whom we promised we wouldn't tell, Roger) got the thrill of a life time when he got a kiss from Vincent. The party atmosphere was so contagious! You just could not have a great time. Outside the ASAP Mobile Testing Unit was parked with David & Jason in charge.  One last stop for the evening, it was into City Side. We got so confused there Jimmy, Billy, Charlie, Shane... who's in the front? who's in the back? And who is on patio? All we know is one of them is turning 40 soon!!!!!!! Hmmm could it possibly be manager Jimmy!!!

"Bars that Were" Updates

A Letter from Gilda

Hello Darlins!  I hope all is going well for you two down there.  I am writing you because in the contact section of "The Bars That Were', my email address is incorrect.  It's:  Jurassicblonde1@AOL.com  It's basically the same as what you have written down, but there is a "1" added to it now.  I changed it a while back.  I would truly appreciate it if you could change that.  I enjoyed all of the emails that I used to receive from readers.  I have heard from people whom I have lost contact with MANY times!  (I would do it myself, and have tried, but I can't figure out how to do it!)  By the way, I am on Chapter Seven of my book!  I have thoroughly covered the Early Gay History of Tampa in the 70's.  All of the Bars, all of the people!  The tentative title is "A Life Outside The Lines".  Keep up your wonderful work!          Sincerely,

GILDA

A close personal friend of ours for over the past 25 years passed last week. Dr. Walter S. Banks called himself a "Simple Georgia Boy" in fact his life was anything but simple. Walt grew up in Atlanta, GA. joined the Navy. He then went to med school in NYC, where he lived with his favorite social light aunt on Park Ave. After graduation in the 1950's, Walt purchased a large 2 story house 2 blocks off Bayshore Blvd. on Platt Street in Tampa. Here he opened up his medical practice and lived on the second floor with life partner, Jack B. Later he purchased a home in South Tampa on San Juan St. His second floor then became an unofficial 'Gay Boarding House.' Walt's practice remained in this location until his retirement. Walt was a "Founding Member of Tampa MCC Church" & was a founding member of "The Tampa Bay Business Guild" and an openly Gay Tampa Socialite. His many acts of kindness and charity will be remembered by many. His Navy Military Funeral Service was Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Chapel. The service was presided by Monsignor Laurence Higgins.

Brian Crawford
Passed Away on Sunday, March 11, 2007

Photo of Brian (in pink) & life partner, Horst  were hosts at last years, "Art for Life" in Tampa.

Very sad news to hear about Brian Crawford's passing this past Sunday.  Brian & Horst have been together for so many years (25+)  that their names had become "Brian & Horst." They both are writers for the Gazette Magazine and have been Gay activists since college days. Recently we had written an article about their marriage in Massachusetts.  There is a service being planned for this coming at MCC Tampa Sunday, March 18th.

Not everyone knew Brian Crawford, but most of you do.  We are sad to inform you that Brain's long hard fight has ended and he is now at peace.  We will gather this Sunday to remember Brian's sunrise of life.  After the service Horst and family cordially invite you for a gathering at Horst and Brian's home.  Brian requested that we not dress in black.  He loved the color YELLOW and requested that all dress casual to fabulous with YELLOW being the theme color.  He also requested YELLOW balloons and or umbrellas instead of flowers.  If feeling compelled to send a thought living plants are welcomed.
