Shootout Injures Bartender At Orlando Bar

POSTED: 11:32 am EDT March 19, 2007
UPDATED: 1:17 pm EDT March 19, 2007

A man who tried to rob an Orlando bar is on the run. Orlando police are investigating a shootout that happened at Studz bar on Mills Avenue on Sunday night.

Officers said a man dressed in black entered the bar when an employee went to empty the trash. They said a bartender then opened fire on the suspect.

"The suspect fled the scene, possibly into a vehicle. We have searched the area and have not located anybody at this time," an investigator said.

The bartender was wounded during the gun battle and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Una Voce on TV!
http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=amosw7bab.0.xefiv7bab.4abis8bab.301&ts=S0235&p=http://www.una-voce.org
Picture it, Sicily, 1932 - - oops wait, I think I'm channeling the wrong story! Join me if you will, on a gorgeous Wednesday evening in February. A secluded section of Tampa populated with huge, lush trees. Just a hint of coolness in the air and add a brisk breeze rustling through the trees. In the not too distant vicinity, the harsh glare of flood lights illuminates the night as beneath them children play softball while their families cheer them on. In the midst of this Norman Rockwell setting beats the heart of a small but powerful broadcast station. Faces begin to drift in like a soft melody heard on the breeze. The paparazzi are oddly absent. No red carpet greets us. We do not arrive in limos but nevertheless we have ARRIVED! Picture it, Tampa, Feb 28, 2007 - - the much anticipated television debut of the UV Rays, the ensemble group of Una Voce: The Florida Men's Chorale. We entered the hallowed halls of the Tampa Bay Community Network and anxiously awaited for someone to usher us into the studio where, we hoped, magic would happen and we would make our fellow brothers in song and our audience happy. The UV Rays were graciously invited to perform on a show called The Voice of Pride hosted by the very attractive and talented Mark Nash. We entered the studio and proceeded to set up our keyboard and place ourselves on the stage. A bit snug, but pressing in close to my fellow Rays was like cuddling on the couch with an afghan to watch a sappy movie, in other words, it felt good and natural when you care about these guys so much. The crew is making final adjustments to scripts and set and I'm thinking to myself I'm about to go on live television. Now I fully expected a wave of nerves to rush over me, you know, like when Richard Dreyfus looks over the railing and sees the tidal wave about to hit the Poseidon - - but instead it was like dropping a pebble in a pond and the simple, gentle ripples create a momentary beauty on the water and then fade away into the tide. How could I possibly feel nervous when surrounded by the most talented, caring and supportive men I have ever known. The cameraman signals the countdown - - four, three, two, one - - "Good evening ladies and gentleman and welcome once again to The Voice of Pride. Tonight we are very fortunate in our series of presenting local musical talent, to have the UV Rays of Una Voce: The Florida Men’s Chorale with us. Lights, action, we open our mouths and it happened - - MAGIC! After performing two songs, Mark, our host, comes to the stage to interview the President of the Chorale, Tom Barker. Tom informs the audience of upcoming concert engagements and where anyone interested in joining our chorus could contact us via email or our website. We finish our set with an appropriate song entitled, "Why We Sing" - - fade to commercial, and we're off. We can now add to our list of entrepreneurs, artists, Carnegie Hall performers, world travelers - - that of (with humble looks on our faces) - - TV stars!

A Letter from Cliff in St. Croix
For all you pet lovers, My boss found "Ethel" the other day. She is barely six weeks old and the wild mother had bitten her left rear leg half off. So we bound together and sent her to have the rest amputated and I ended up adopting her. When I took her after hospital visit to see my boss, the boss had found two more of the same litter. I ended up with "Fred" So now, having Halo, Bart (both cats) and Scampi (a dumpster dog) I now have Fred and Ethel. (pic enclosed) Please encourage all your readers to adopt. Love you all and see you in early spring.
Love, Cliff

hear other communities say your sexuality is a sin? Are you tired of feeling left out when
others quote the Bible, and you can’t dispute what they say v/s what you feel? Do you want to

God loves you?

Crescendo Bowling Tournament

PO Box 274082

Tampa, FL 33688

www.crescendosings.com

Dear Friend,

Crescendo:  The Tampa Bay Women’s Chorus is proud to host our semi annual Crescendo Community Bowling Tournament.  The event will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Brandon Crossroads Bowling Lanes located at 609 Crater Lane, Tampa. It is through your support that this event continues to be a very successful fundraiser for Crescendo year after year.  We thank you for your support of this and other Crescendo endeavors, and would like to ask you to help make this tournament, once again, a huge success! We plan to hold this event twice each year, once in Hillsborough and once in Pinellas. The Board and Membership of Crescendo is striving toward artistic and administrative growth and membership and audience development. Future plans include a summer concert and a holiday concert. This spring, we will be holding a weekend retreat with Vocal Coach, Michael Hayden and in July, 2008, the chorus will be performing at GALA Choruses Festival VIII being held in Miami.

You can help Crescendo to further our mission of social change through musical excellence by becoming a team sponsor.  Each sponsorship is just $100.  This covers the cost of one team’s bowling (3 games), shoe rental and a commemorative T-shirt.  As a team sponsor, your company name, or the name of your choice, will be listed BOLDLY on the back of the official tournament T-shirt.  Should your team win, you will receive the winning trophy.  You may provide your own bowlers, or we will assign you a team.  Each bowler is asked to raise a minimum of $40 in pledges.   Individual members of the winning team will receive an award commemorating the event. In addition, we will have a raffle, and door prizes will be given away.

Don’t miss this opportunity to display your ball-rolling, pin-destroying talent and have a great time!  If you would like to sponsor a team, please complete the enclosed registration form and mail it, with your check or credit card information by Sunday, April 8 2007 to the address shown above.  If you are providing your own team, please complete the bowler portion of the form as well.  If you have any questions or would like to donate a door prize item, please call the Crescendo line at (813) 774-6514.

We thank you for your continued support and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

 Linda Lemons

President
