OUTING RILEY

An Irish Catholic family learns that the youngest son is gay. Self-accepting Bobby Riley, a Chicago architect, tells us right off the bat he's gay. He has three militantly straight brothers and his only sister knows the truth. Now that both their parents are dead, his sister pressures Bobby to tell his brothers. Bobby and his live-in boyfriend would like nothing more than to drop the charade Bobby maintains with his lesbian pal. But when Bobby does spill the beans, his brothers assume due to his regular-guy demeanor that he's kidding. Besides, they're meat and potatoes Irish-Catholic, so Bobby simply can't be gay. But, everybody, it turns out, has a secret.

2007, with the opening of the new facility anticipated by spring 2009. For more information

A Letter to the Editor
from Sir Gramm

What is PRIDE?

PRIDE used to mean getting together and working on a plan to gain our rights as Gay men and Women as one group who had been discriminated against.  Since the original "action" at Stonewall in NYC when Drag Queens got tired of paying higher drink prices at the same bar as Gay men.  They started what is now Gay Pride.  The original parade left the Village in NYC to Central Park, where on the great lawn we sat with picnic baskets, drinks etc and listened to speakers. Each telling us what we should do and not do to gain our rights.  Since then PRIDE has changed into a money making event.  The NYC PRIDE parade starts in Central Park and have civil union laws and are denied at the Federal level.  Where will you be whengoes to the Village to make money. In prior pride weeks each bar took a night of PRIDE week and gave back to the community who had supported it.  Free drafts, mixed drinks, buffets etc. and kept in place their Happy Hours and did not charge a cover or raise drink prices.

It is now a large money making event for who?  They support a parade and put money into it, making it back with the event many fold over.  Money should be going back for the equality of our rights, which is what PRIDE is all about.  We should have had by now our rights, since we have been fighting since 1970. At this time only 7 states that  your lover passes away and his/her family steps in? or where is the extra money when you can't file taxes together? or when you can't see them in a hospital as you are not family?  Think real hard about it, as it happens all too often in life.

Point being, we need to start the fight again and WIN.....................
