Hate Summit 101
What do you have with a dozen Smilin' Gay bashing religious Conservatives and a group of Angered Tampa Bay Human Rights GLBT Crusaders? Well, the theme to this party seems to tell it all. Thursday at Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon hosted the weekend Family Impact Summit. A warm welcome came from the pastor and then Equality Florida panelist from around the country spoke including Nadine Smith, Equality Florida; Rev Harold Brockus, retired pastor of St. Pete's Good Samaritan Church, Rev. Phyllis Hunt, MCC Tampa; Dr. Daniel Helminiak, Ph.D. Author - "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality"; Marty Rouse, HRC Field Director. Over 100 proud protesting ralliers supported the panelist and faced off to the staring crowd with their backs to the church. Signs saying "I'm No Gay Agenda", "This is a Church of HATE", and "Equality for ALL" were among the street sidewalks in ralliers hands. The summit had representatives that cliamed they can 'cure' homosexual people, and seminars on "Anti-Gay Marriage Tactics", "Homosexuality and Youth" and the "Homosexual Agenda." Church groups from around the area supported the HRC and among those attendees for support were night club owner, Joe Redner, Sally Phillips, GLBTA Democratic Caucus and yours truly Mark & Carrie from

Fierce, Fabulous, Film...
Dear Festival Goers,
It's been an incredible year, combing the world for the best-of-the-best of LGBT films. This year's TIGLFF schedule is packed with award winning works from all around the world, plus we are bringing in an exciting line-up of film makers and cast members. After 15 years of festival programming, I believe this year's films to be the creme de la creme --what you might even call a vintage year for the craft of filmmaking in the LGBT community.
LGBT filmmakers have outdone themselves with stories that challenge us, entertain us and bring us together in fresh ways that are gorgeous, diverse and well crafted. These films and this year's program have opened many conversations about who we are, what we do and where we're all going, as individuals and as a community.
With a record number of filmmakers and cast members who will be attendance, sneak peek screenings, and fantastic slate of features and shorts we are all in for a very, very, VERY good time -- so come out and enjoy the films, the parties, and your community of friends. See you next week!

The Jules Burt "High Heel Hike" a walk for the Easter Seals had a Grand Queen Walk at Westshore Plaza Sat. September 22. Hundreds of High Heel Hikers paraded around the wings of the mall. With plenty of press coverage, Tampa's Mix 96 radio personalities Nancy Alexander and Frodo helped lead the early morning revelers march. Mix 96's Nancy and Frodo's had fun with a Hot Glue Gun also! MC Film had fun with "Just Jack"! The High Heel Hike will be coming October 6 to the Galleria Mall in Ft. Lauderdale.
Everybody has a song that when it plays a flood of memories pour in.
This week on the car radio the song "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack was playing on the radio. All of a sudden I was transported back in time to the Lunar Lounge at the SunCoast Resort. There on stage performing this song was Miss Mellisa Mason! Dressed in a red fringe outfit wit
