This year over 50 floats, bands & dance teams the parade down 7th Ave. Millions of beads were tossed, but what makes these beads so special is who throws them. The floats are filled with happy kids tossing beads! In our group everybody had so many beads that our necks could hold anymore! That was when we started to give beads back to the kids to re throw again. Be sure and mark this parade on your calendar for next year! Also mark upcoming Sunday, Dec 9th. for the "Treasure Island Boat Parade". This is the biggest boat parade in the bay area. However, the book "Naked Men, Too: Liberating the Male Nude 1950-2000" a great book with an absurd title, contains many young and older photos of models from the 50s through the 80s. The book by David Leddick was published in 2000 by Universe Publishing/Rizzoli. It is apparent Leddick made a prodigious effort to assemble a unique collection of photos and research the lives of the models.   Jim Dardanis, one of the stars of the Denver-based studio Western Photography Guild, posed for many posing strap photos during the 50s, when he was in his 20s. According to Leddick, Dardanis acquired his wiry, muscular physique through sports and physical labor, without resorting to weights. He lived most of his life in Colorado, where he worked as a salesman. He was married twice and had four sons and three daughters.
