GBLT History Making Event !!!

Makes History at the Florida Capitol's Rotunda
Gay American Heroes Foundation's non-profit organization made state and national history at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida. A well received press conference with State Representatives and Senators spoke on behalf of the The 1st GLBT exhibit invited to the Florida Capitol Rotunda. Scott Hall, founder of the Gay American Heroes Foundation, started the beginnings of a traveling memorial exhibit and was welcomed to the Capitol Building during the press conference. It was because of a Polk County gay college student, Ryan Skipper who was brutally murdered, that got Hall interested in a recognition memorial of murdered Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Youth.
"The murders of gays and lesbian didn't end with Matthew Shepherd in Wyoming. In fact there is a gay person who is murdered in the U.S. every 10 days since the beginning of this year. They were killed just because of their sexual orientation." he went on and said. " I stand next to Ryan Skipper's parents, Lynn and Patricia Mulder, and today ironically is Ryan's birthday (April 28). He was brutally murdered, 1 county over just a year ago. We need to bring attention to this hate blight on the GLBT community, to all America! Happy Birthday Ryan!" Both parents were interviewed by a slew of reporters all about the anti-gay hate crimes. The Mulders have made it there mission to educate about gay hate crimes awareness in high schools, middle schools and PTA's. "A loss like Ryan's... It steals a families life and being," said Patricia Mulder.
A birthday cake was brought out and presented next to the smaller version of the memorial that was displayed.
We were glad to be part of Florida's gay history at the Capitol. We both held up signs during the press conference of students that were murdered since March 2008. Tampa Bay's

New at Ybor City State Museum
Willy and Carl were visiting the Ybor City State Museum at 1818 9th Avenue, and came across a brand new exhibit called "Sicilians in Tampa, Unfolding the Journey." It answered a lot of questions for them about why the Sicilians came to Ybor City and how they blended in to the cigar rolling industry. Wanting to learn more, they found out that Professor Susan M. Taylor of the Department of Language at the University of Tampa will be giving a talk on "The Survival of the Sicilian Dialect of Tampa, Florida" on Sunday, May 4th, at two p.m. at the Italian Club, located at 1731 E. 7th Avenue. What more could you ask for?
Thanks, Willy

We gladly give our support to this group full of "Mucho Caliente Salsa Dancers!" FMI
