Friday, July 11 was the Official opening of Gallery Live! ChouChou Guilder was the opening artist. Located next to MC Film, Gallery Live has already started quite the talk in the art community. With 10 working spaces and 2 very impressive gallery rooms. The owners, D. Stephen Moss and Steve Donahue and gallery curator Mathieu Stanoch have added creativity to Ybor's GaYBOR Districts Westend. You will definitely be hearing a lot about Gallery Live in the future! A few blocks away at 18th & 5th there was a one night show featuring William Dobson & Paul M. Tabio. A very unique and fun concept. The show was hosted in a  beautiful 3 story vacant townhouse. The realtor was passing out cards at the front door. On second floor was a sushi chef  in the kitchen. Up on the third floor was the bar & the roof top had quite the view.   William & Pauls art filled the walls and commitment to each other in a very contemporary uptown feel.  Coming soon another real estate company will be hosting  4 loft open house art show in the near future. Just announced this week... there will be a 18,000+ sq foot art center opening this fall. Located behind The Honey Pot and The Ritz Ybor, this old bar club building will soon start renovations including a new roof & updates to codes. In side this huge space will be working family art studios, stain glass gallery & classes, photography studio with blackroom, art classes, a black box theater, gardening & much, much more! A documentary film maker looking for our help
I am looking for newspaper clippings, photos, or footage of Tampa female impersonation scene in the 1960's-75 .
specifically pictures of gay bars, female impersonators being arrested, clubs getting raided. I'm also looking for any sort of media on Joe Spicola's Diamond Horseshoe where Vicki worked. Also looking for a photo of a jail stockade in florida , tampa area, same era.  Perhaps someone has pictures in their  private collection that they might share or could point me in the right direction of someone who does.

TRA'shon Fashion Show
What a Mega find in St. Petersburg. Artsy, Fun and surrounded with highly energized artistic talents. This is ARTpool Gallery & Studio located at 919 1st Ave. North in the downtown area.  The 3 month old full cultural gallery is owned by Marina Williams, a true musical & photo artist by heart and trade. You can tell that she loves all facets of the arts and she is never seen out without her classy funk sunglasses. Besides being a local native her impressive resume includes a BA degree from New College of Sarasota, photography travels to Peru and Australia, and a thesis inspired from backpacking trips through 8 European countries over 4 months studying photography to her shingle beginnings.  She just held an independent film festival this past month and is featuring "FRA'shon Fashion Show " this weekend. "I knew, it was to open a gallery now or maybe never." Marina smirked. Original design fashions, new and creative recyclable are the theme to this Saturday, July 19th runway flair. Over 20+ fashion designers will be showing their wears on the magical runway. " We are equipped to handle the large number that are expecting to attend" said Marina. Older  ties are re-used and turned into unusual fashions and wears on the mannequins in the gallery. Kevin Morris, owner of Spur's Country Bar in GaYBOR is celebrating a birthday extravaganza at the bar this Thursday, July 17th staring at 7:00. I guess there will be some dancin' goin on! Yar, your favorite voted waiter at The King & I Thai Restaurant in downtown St. Pete has been accepted to Ft. Lauderdale's School of Design in Ft. Lauderdale and is taking design concept classes. Good Luck. The Queen of the 7th Avenue, Hampton Inn & Suites, Beck Fox, Dir. of Sales has moved up the ladder to Asst. Property Manager.  Her new replacement is the former Doubletree Hotel, Sales & Promotion Mgr and chocolate chip cookie ambassador, Brenda Holloway. Both will be very involved in Ybor politics. Congrats to both!
        BTW... Coming to party and staying in GaYBOR District in Historic Ybor City.....

Out Magazine's Editor is coming to explore Tampa's highlights then onto visiting GaYBOR District and the Tampa Bay beach area. The Intl. GLBT magazine is planning to do a story on the newly created GaYBOR District destination. Here is a positive in the building market. New construction projects are being noticed all along Central Avenue in St. Pete's GLBT Grand Central District.

Gulfport's 8th Annual GECKOFEST

is seeking participants for their quirky End of Summer Celebration on August 30th, 2008. Participants may include Community or Corporate sponsorships, Art and Craft Vendors, Street Performers, and Musicians.  GECKOFEST attracted over 15,000 patrons in 2007, and is expected to expand again this year!
