Former 1st lady of the United States of America
Tickets for the Barack Obama  "CHANGE WE NEED RALLY with Sen. Hillary Clinton" went very fast. Over 3,000+ people lined up outside the All Peoples Life Center Gymnasium on Sligh Ave. in Tampa. Mark, Carrie, Judy & Mathieu supporting rainbow pins & shirts were just 4 of the lucky ones!! The people in the line were truly a diverse group: Young, Old, Gay, Straight, Men, Women, White Collar, Blue Collar, Students, Labor Union, Postal Workers, School Teachers & all colors. Waiting together for over a hour in the hot sunny sky, we couldn't help but become friends fast! Everybody agreed that it is time for change in America. Unfortunately, everybody also had a story about a bad confrontation with opposing views. This election is obviously going to be the meanest in history. A reporter from the Sarasota Herald was making her way thru the line. She told us her mission was to find a former Hillary supporter who is now for VP candidate Alaska Gov. Palin. She was halfway thru the line and hadn't found one, but she said she did find many republican women now voting for Obama. Then up came CBS channel 10 News. Yes, that was us on TV Monday night. One more great interview with the Obama Campaign! After the interview, the long line of listeners in line started to applauded  our views on Gay Right & Vote No on 2!  Once inside we were just 10 feet from the center stage! Judy being short & the crowd being so nice, moved her even closer! The warm up speaker Slate started and then up to the podium came the former Tampa Mayor Sandy Freedman!  Hillary walked in and it was an instant outpouring of love & respect! People were shooting, "We Love You Hillary!" she responded " I love you too. I especially love Tampa and Hillsborough County for supporting me in the past primary." The biggest applause came later when somebody shouted out "Tell us about Palin" Hillary responded, "I don't think that's what this election is about. This election is about the differences between us and the Republican Party. Anybody who believes that the republicans, whoever they are, can fix the mess they created, probably believes that the icebergs could have saved the Titanic."  After the rally  Hillary was making her way past the front line. Judy B. Goode pointed at her rainbow Obama shirt and Hillary gave her a thumbs up. This was a rally we will remember for a life time!

A MC Film Moment
Sometimes even we say to ourselves... "Did that just really happen?" We were on our way to the Flamingo Car Show driving our car "H.R.H. Princess Priscilla." Carrie was driving wearing his shiny cowboy hat. In the back set was Mark & our pet Aussie, Miss Amber Jillie, sitting up proudly with attitude. A car along side honked. It was MCC Tampa pastor, Rev. Phyllis Hunt with special celebrity & friend MCC founder Rev. Troy Perry on their way to the special church service. As we entered Channel Side, a cruise ship was unloading. The streets were packed and the crosswalk was full. When all of a sudden the police officer.... blew his whistle, stopped the crossing people and motioned for us to come thru. With the magnetic Rainbow car flags on the hood waving we started to drive thru. The officer smiled and said, "See you guys in GaYBOR later! "  What must those confused tourist thought? Who are they & what country is that flag from???

It All Happened at Rehab
A new and wild club has opened in GaYBOR. Club owners Cowboy Roger and Shane have created a
new ambiance to the district. Rehab is on the second floor where the old Flirt Night Club was located.
Rehab has an abundant type of energy. Since the closing of Lounge 714, Monday Karaoke has moved to the new club with Stormanie Norman casting the call of new area talents. Some great and some... well, not so great but a fun night out none the less. Always crowded, So to get your vocals reverberating go Mondays to Rehab!!! Other nights feature Wednesday's New Talent Nite, Judy B. Goode & Paul Thomas Thursdays, the boisterous Melanie Minyon handles the "Tidy Whitey" contest, the tall Ms Daphne Ferraro host Fun Fridays at the club, plus Teacup's Tea Party Sunday Retro Party. The bar opens for happy hour, 4:00 daily! But there is more!!! VIP night opened in the new lower bar simply named appropriately, AddicKshun. A leather, bluejean and bear hangout spot. Friendly surroundings to the needs of the everyday guy. The side ally gravel entrance leads you directly to the underground fun bar.

Did You See That Car?
Congratulations to Flamingo Auto Group on the 2nd Annual GaYBOR Car Show held last Sunday in Ybor City. This was the first event in 2007 that GaYBOR District & MC Film hosted in Ybor City. A full array of new, classic, and vintage vehicles were on display in the Czar Parking lot. Hundreds of people stopped and looked at vehicles all afternoon on 7th Ave. From a 1932 Nash custom, 1956 Chrysler St. Regis, 1962  Cadillac Eldorado Beritz , Lincolns, Thunderbirds to the newest 2008 Smart Cars. Thanks to the wonderful GaYBOR Members for the great awarded prizes. Hampton Inn & Suites, Gallery Live, Island Florists, King Corona, CZAR, Rock-n-Sport, Green Iguana, Honey Pot, G. Bar, Crowbar, Laughing Cat Restaurant, MC FILM, Streetcar Charlies, Fresh Mouth and Ybor City Chamber of Commerce Museum Store.

People Are Talking
Congratulations to SunTrust Bank on getting a rating of 100% by the Human Rights Organization, an Award for diversity and GLBT friendly "Best Places to Work" in the United States. So Congratulations to Ybor City's SunTrust Bank Manager David Alavarez and favorite personal bank CS person Walter Pinillos and crew. This is a bank that looks out for the GLBT community! A sight to behold was the emergence of Hurricane Gustav and its heading was New Orleans. The same time, Labor Day Weekend, the 30+ annual Southern Decadence was taking place in NO with over 100,000 visiting gay men. A lot of Tampa Bay area guys headed to the event. Members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were told to evacuate and leave. Interviewed by local Fox TV on the last Southwest Air flight out to Tampa was Don Arnold from Don's AC Service in Tampa. Nice shirt & Tie Don! We here the biggest North American Gay Cruise is in the works going to Key West for Fantasy Fest 2009. Carnival Cruise Lines has rented one whole ship for this spectacular monumental gay event. More details will be forthcoming. The invites are out for annual All Hallows Ball. Hmmm... a theater event and you have to be in character. Whom will we be???

MC Film & Gallery Live are working on a special framed exhibit during the clip Film Festival. We are searching for 3 posters from the Tampa Intl. Gay & Lesbian Film Festival  1998, 2005 & 2006. Please check your old boxes of memorabilia today. Our community thanks you & we do too!!!  Also we know this is going a stretch..... In 1990 we were at the very first film festival. That first year there was not a poster but a small program.  Even our 4 packrat friends from that time do not have that program. Who knows maybe somebody out there has one???

You can hear the clanging of the projectors being worked on. Film being spliced, seats being cleaned everything to have the best GLBT Film Festival in Tampa.  The 19th Annual clip (Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) begins Oct. 2 through Oct. 12. Most films are at the grand historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa. This one of the largest GLBT film festivals in America. Celebrity Parties include the Surge Party for Men and the Sugar Women's Party.
