 Well Ybor City ...Here comes the G. Bar. That was 2 years ago! The D.Stephen & Steve Show have really helped change the make-up of Ybor City. Over the years live animal shows, gymnasts performing, Diva's, top name Concerts, and zany & just crazy nights have been in place. Like Trailer Trash Night with a real broken trailer, Super Heroes with make-up artist painting six packs on any attendee. Last Weekend Champaign free all night, an incredible show with a balloon drop, and a totally packed house. Thanks Guys for your club and your sometimes somewhat wacky themes.
 
 
 
 
Sordid Lives at Honey Pot's Steam Fridays
A lively night of meeting & greeting of Logo TV hit show, "Sordid Lives; The Series" by writer & Director Del Shores and pretty boy on the show, Jason Dottley. Actually Jason is from Spring Hill, Fl. "I know you!" he said as he was introduced to local Ybor Diva Miss Joey Brooks. " You were at the Pleasuredome weren't you. I remember partying at that club and seeing you perform." Other great moments happened as we were introduced to Jason's Mom and friends (one in particular) from Spring Hill surrounded the neuvo famed gay actor.
Jason candidly gave accounts of all the turmoil in the gay gossip press. " No I am not going to get killed off. 'I really love being part of this wonderful series." and "No, Del and I didn't have a bitch fight on the set!" Things I guess I should have heard about but hadn't!!!
The likable 2 were very cordial and friendly to the hundreds that wanted photos and autographs. " I know you want more of me, right!!" further laughing and adding "Go and tell Dell, he is right over there!" Judy B. Goode said she wanted more shows and not the re-runs that have been going on Logo TV for the last month. "New episodes are coming. Just waiting for the sponsors to do ..." remarked Jason. We will wait & see as we are  hooked Wednesday night Sordid Lives groupees!

The KIKIKI III was packed like we have never seen. Everybody was coming out to show their support for Stevie. His home & pet was lost in a fire. All the best cooks in town donated food and the strippers donated their tips. 50/50 was played with a true who's who list group. We all wish only the best for this very loved man!

GaYBOR District , Ybor City Holiday Storefront Decorating Contest
This past Monday morning at 9AM... I repeat 9AM... one more time 9AM we were actually up!!! Volunteers from several GaYBOR businesses, YES Team, YCDC and the Tampa Parks Department started to decorate 7th Ave for the Holidays. Colored Lights on the Ybor City Lamps. Bows & bells and lights went up, and put us right into the Holiday Mood. The GaYBOR District has issued a decorating challenge for all of Historic Ybor City Businesses!!!  Keeping in the Spirit of the Holidays, the following day we helped host a luncheon for all the volunteers at the YCDC office. Over 40 decorating people attended.

There was quite the cat fight at Bern's Steak House. After a very loud argument between 2 gals, the 2 left in separate taxi cabs only to both ended up at MetroStation!  WHEW... Poor bartender Jack S. had his hands full keeping the two hissers apart! Talking about MetroStation.... the 2606 has temporarily moved in there while they finish remodeling 2606. The locals are really enjoying the change of scenery. This past Saturday, the whole club was packed!!! In Ybor this past week a famous adult film studio crew was spotted looking for new locations to shoot. They were very impressed with The White Room.  Hum Hum.... You say Ghost Hunters are coming to the sight of the new Gay Ybor City Resort & Spa to check on those airy spirits. November 30th they will be checking the ghostly events and unnatural incidents out during  filming segment ! On a trip to St. Pete we stopped into "The Lucky Star" where Mark S. was behind the bar. The locals were all busy talking about 2 new GLBT hotels possibly coming and opening soon. Also a huge famous straight club is taking about going Gay! Cowboy Roger is going to perform in drag on Dec 21 at Detours for TBAN  & Toys for Tots. There is also talk about a new show club coming to St. Pete in early 2009. MC Film asks  "What is the Glam Squad???"
 
Hey Guys....

The Glam Squad is a group COMA and I formed to show our talents and love for ALL THINGS GLAM, Together or separate we LOVE GLAM !!!!!
 
 We consist of myself, ALEXIS DE LA MER.. originally from NYC, where i started my craft under the wings of Electra St. Jill, Jesse Volt, Jessica Foxx and my drag mother, Ariel SinClair. I've won some pageants, Miss Long Island, Best Bette Midler look a like of NY, Miss Pasco County, and Miss Waterside Landings' Comic Strip.....BUT i feel winning pageants doesn't define an entertainer as any more talented than the next entertainer. I've been featured on Maury Povich ( Who Hasn't Been...LOL ) and Jenny Jones twice as ALEXIS. I work regularly at Waterside Landing in New Port Richey, Florida, Rebar in Port St. Lucie, and also travel down to FTL and South Beach to work with BFF Misty Eyez from time to time.
 
COMA who is the GLAM GOD male entertainer of the squad is from Tampa originally, and has traveled to Michigan to work with the Power Diva's, Atlanta to work at the Glitter Dome, and has been on cast at Chambers in Tampa, Fl. and Benders of St. Petersburg. COMA is the love child of Pete Burns of Dead or Alive, David Bowie and Marilyn  Manson. COMA is a MAC make-up artist, and LOVES performing.
 
Our newest squad member is BRICE who is a HOTTIE, shot boy, bartender and dancer.
 
Also in our squad is Rodger, our dresser, and Anthony ( Volva Delish ) our driver....
 
COMA and I have been performing duets together for years now at such clubs as Waterside Landing, Pulse in LakeLand, Z-109 in CLearwater, Rebar in Port St. Lucie and the Parliament House in Orlando for Miss Florida at Large. Next Saturday, November 29th, COMA, BRICE and Myself are all performing together at Partners in St. Petersburg. Shows starting at 10, with Brice dancing between shows and selling GLAM shots that night. We are excited about our new duets and NEW matchings costumes.We will be transforming Partners that night into a GLAM club with out silver n pink decorations and new lighting. Come check us out. The Glam Squad also performs make overs and photography services for all your GLAM needs....

Because of your support and generosity, we actually surpassed last year's total and grossed just over $17,000 in our 6th Annual Holiday Charity Auction.

When all the costs for credit cards payments and the cost of the room are deducted, we are happy to say that each Not for Profit will be receiving just over $5000.

Florida ban on gay adoptions ruled unconstitutional

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman Tuesday declared Florida's 50-year-old ban on gay adoptions unconstitutional -- a ruling state lawyers immediately said they would challenge.
 
The ruling sets the stage for Frank Gill, a gay man from North Miami, to adopt two foster children he has raised since 2004. In a 53-page ruling, Judge Lederman said, ``It is clear that sexual orientation is not a predictor of a person's ability to parent.''
 
Two lawyers from the Florida Attorney General's Office said they would file an appeal Tuesday. ''We respect the court's decision,'' said Assistant Attorney General Valerie Martin. ``Based upon the wishes of our client, the Department of Children & Families, we will file an appeal.''
 
Gill, who is raising the half-brothers, ages 4 and 8, said he was ''elated'' by the ruling and ``I cried tears of joy for the first time in my life.''

A Good Home is needed for a Good Dog
I have been in your store and met your Aussie. She is wonderful. Samson is also an amazing dog. He was my daughter's dog and she has become too sick to care for him. He is with me at the moment but I have two large male dogs of my own and I can't trust them with Samson. Aussie rescue was not very helpful. If you know of anyone interested please give them my number. He is a black,tan and white tri-color, perfectly healthy, completely housebroken, crate trained, has had some basic obedience classes, is up to date on all of his shots.

L'AMOUR is the biggest fundraising event of the year to benefit the MAC AIDS Fund in the southeast region and will take place November 30, 2008 at The Honey Pot located at 1507 E 7th Avenue in Tampa, Florida. All of the donations raised from the door, auction, and 10% of the liquor proceeds will directly benefit the MAC AIDS Fund which provides funding to nonprofit HIV/AIDS organizations and programs for such needs as food, clothing, housing, healthcare.


L'AMOUR is open to the general public with a $10.00 minimum donation to attend. Doors open at 9pm to the general public.

Hi Mark and Carrie...since you guys are so connected the Tampa Bay gay community, and have been so helpful in the past with our LGBT events here at USF, I wanted to make you aware of an event we have coming up December 5. 
 

We've established an LGBT Scholarship fund here at USF, which we're currently trying to get endowed (requires a minimum principal of $25k). The scholarship will help LGBT students -- who, as you know, are often financially cut off by their families when they come out -- to continue their educations.  The larger the principal we can endow, the more -- and larger -- scholarships we can offer.

 

On Friday December 5, we will be holding an event here at the USF Marshall Center ballroom that will go a long way towards helping to endow this scholarship fund, and I would like to invite you to attend if you are inclined to do so.  Details can be found at this link:

The evening will consist of an hors d'ouevres reception (including beer, wine, and other beverages) from 6-7 p.m., followed by two short films from the Clip Film Festival, and then a performance by comedian Vickie Shaw.  Vickie has performed on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and Logo's "Outlaugh" programs and we were fortunate to have landed her for this benefit.

 

We have managed to get just about everything sponsored for this event, including the food (Ciccio & Tony's and The Lime), beverages, and Vickie's fee, travel and lodging (Sunbelt Title Agency), so that we expect just about 100% of the proceeds to benefit the scholarship fund.  A good crowd will likely put us over the top in endowing the scholarship, and advanced ticket sales will help us make sure we have enough food and beverages for everyone.

 

We are very excited about how close we are to endowing this scholarship fund, and since we have so much backing from the USF administration and the Alumni Association, we're anxious to show we can support this scholarship effort the way other minority alumni groups have (particularly the Latino and Black alumni societies).

Event Description:
Impact Florida's next general meeting will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 2pm at The Metro Center of St. Petersburg. The address is 3170 3rd Ave. North Saint Petersburg, FL 33713. (For those of you that were able to attend, this is the same location at which last Saturday's meeting took place.)

There is a small fee ($25 an hour) for the use of this room. It goes to support the very worthy cause of Metropolitan Charities, Inc.(www.metrocharities.org) If you are able, please come to the meeting prepared to toss a few bucks into the hat to cover this cost.

Our only agenda item at this meeting will be hashing out the remaining details for our December 12 demonstration outside of Governor Charlie Crists's wedding/reception. In case you haven't already received information about the plans we have thus far, here's a summary:

The first phase of the demonstration will take place on Friday, December 12 outside of the wedding itself which is being held at the First United Methodist Church of Saint Petersburg (212 3rd St N St Petersburg, FL 33701). The second phase of the demonstration will take place on the same date outside of the reception which is being held at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort (501 5th Avenue NE St. Petersburg, Florida 33701). We do not have confirmed times for either of these events although we do know that the wedding starts at 7pm.

All participating in the demonstration will wear pink shirts as a display of unity. Our objective will be to celebrate the Governor's and everyone's fundamental right to marry. Our message will be positive and our gathering will be peaceful. We want *every* Floridian to have the unimpeded right to marry and that certainly includes the Governor.

A WORLD AIDS DAY CONCERT

The Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Commemoration of World AIDS Day, Reflections: A World AIDS Day Concert, a musical retrospective commemorating World AIDS Day.  The Concert will have one performance only, Monday, December 1, 2008 at American Stage Theatre Company, 211 Third Street South, downtown, St. Petersburg. 

 

Join area artists in an evening of reflection and remembrance honoring those who have passed and those that still suffer from HIV and AIDS.  All proceeds from this one night, Pay-What-You-Can performance will benefit ASAP (AIDS Service Association of Pinellas), an organization that provides services to people living with HIV and AIDS.

 

Reflections: A World AIDS Day Concert will feature Sharon Scott, Loren Wood, Julie Rowe, Matt McGee, T. Scott Wooten, Carolyn Zaput, Eric Davis, Jorge Acosta, and other Tampa Bay theatre artists who are donating their time and talents for this event.

They have done a great deal to support and empower the Women of the Tampa Bay Area. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the SPHF.
