T-Dance GaYBOR Style

The bar has been raised again in Ybor City for T-Dance Sundays!!! Sleep in Sundays after your wild Saturday Night! Then it's time for a lazy Sunday afternoon brunch in GaYBOR! Choice from; Streetcar Charlie's, Rock-n-Sports, Fresh Mouth, New York New York, King Corona, Bernini, Mema's, L' Olivier's , Green Iguana, Teatro's, Gameworks & Gaspar's Grotto. Most of these restaurants all offer Sunday specials and great prices. At 5 PM starts T-Dance GaYBOR Style!!!! Most people start by gathering at Streetcar Charlie's. At 6 PM opens Club W. Famous for theme parties... this past weekend it was Togo Party! Every Sunday is different at L' Olivier's Bistro & Cabaret. From full shows to drag shows you will always be surprised. This past weekend there was a YMCA ( the real one) Senior Prom there!  What a hoot.... senior's dancing with show girls & drag queens! Now open for the T-Dance Sunday is The Ybor Social & The Ybor Eagle.  Can you have toooo many hot MEN in one club? We say NO!!! The new patio was steamy way late into the night. Crystal Water's Concert at Steam Friday's

It is very easy to see why "Steam Friday's" has become the #1 GLBTA Club in Florida!!!! In a "Never Ending Party Club Style",  the dressed to impress crowd packed Steam early! Upstairs in the dressing room were not only the nights performing stars but the real who's who in performers stopping by to say hi! Show director Toby, kicked the night off with his impressive line up of cast members. Then direct from NYC on stage was Miss Jasmin International!!! After her performance I caught Jasmin in the VIP lounge and took a GREAT Shot (My Photo of the week!). Club Kids from South Beach were next on stage. Over the top WOW doesn't even begin to describe them!  Nothing like blowing up a balloon on stage then crawling into it!   Suddenly into the VIP Lounge came huge security guards. (Where do they find them that big & sexy?) We all know what that means.... singing Special Guest diva Crystal Water's was in the house! Onto the stage Crystal belted out one #1 hit after another! Her sexy backup dancers didn't miss a step!   Thank You Steam for making us all so PROUD of our home!

New Owners at Chelsea Night Club

Join us in welcoming to Tampa, Nikki & Bruno, the new owners of Chelsea Nightclub. The couple have been married for over 25 years and are moving here from Amsterdam. They are bringing a very warm hospitality and a  vibrant energy to the bar. People Are Talking

There seems to have been an entourage from Tampa heading to New York to experience Grace Jones short US concert tour. Local singer Jeremy Goeff, Mathieu S. from Gallery Live, bartender Peter from Ybor Social and promoter of the new AJA Wednesdays, Mike Hammond. The 61 year old singer who rallied around in the Studio 54 disco days had some of the best outlandish costumes and she sang out like a wild songbird! A new outside patio has been laid out on an abandoned city ally between Ybor Resort and the Ybor Eagle on 15th Street. New fencing, shrubs and everything pretty. We hear from a lot of St. Pete voters that there isn't a true leading GLBT friendly frontrunner candidate in the St. Petersburg's City Mayors race. The 100,000 attending St. Pete Pride should wake up somebody! The primaries are upon us. We do support Steve Kornell for St. Petersburg City Council, District 5. Sawmill Campground has their Mr. Sawmill Leather Contest coming up August 14-16th sponsored by the Tampa Leather Club. A name change in Mr. Gulf Coast Leather Contest this year. Now.. Mr. Ybor Eagle Leather Contest. At Streetcar Charle's there was huge DRAMA!!!! One of the trolley cars took the turn toooo fast and crashed! There is now a new car going klang klang klang goes the trolley!!! Finally coming soon to GaYBOR is a GLBTA  Furniture store. Look for the opening soon a t 1515 7th Ave!!!

This past weekend a Red Pedicab was stolen in Ybor City, (The bikes-rickshaws with seats in the back for passengers) This is how these guys make their money. You can just imagine how devastating this is for them. They think somebody took it for a joy ride. Third Annual Deep Carnivale Celebrates the Art of Words in Ybor City
 

Tampa, FL - DEEP CARNIVALE: A CELEBRATION OF WORDS, Tampa’s premier literature festival, takes place Saturday, September 12, 2009, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Dozens of authors, poets, songwriters and artists will present work on multiple stages in the Performing Arts Building of Hillsborough Community College, Ybor Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Organized by The Artists and Writers Group, Inc., this is the third year of a celebration of writing and reading that brings artists representing a diverse range of writing styles, ages, experience, and cultural backgrounds together to share their love of literature and related art forms with the Tampa Bay community.

With something interesting for all ages, Deep Carnivale presents art and activities from the playful to the avant garde. For the kids, there will also be a wide array of supervised literacy, reading and arts activities to enjoy in the large rehearsal hall right in the middle of the festival. Children’s Future Hillsborough and HCC faculty and students promise lots of fun and games.

In addition to readings and art installations, numerous book and publishing house vendors, authors signing tables, writers associations and related organizations, refreshments and live music will add ambience to festival.

The Artists and Writers Group, Inc.

Recently reorganized from its previous incarnation in the 1970’s-80’s, when it was known for unique events, including the famed and notorious Artists and Writers balls in Ybor City, the Group is now devoted to creating partnerships with interested organizations to provide stimulating opportunities for our community to express and share its creativity. The partners and sponsors are dedicated to supporting the Tampa Bay area cultural community with events such as Deep Carnivale: Celebration of Words, Homemade Music Symposium, and the Ybor Festival of the Moving Image.

This event is organized with seed funds from the Ybor City Development Corporation and is presented in partnership with Hillsborough Community College-Ybor City Campus and Children’s Future Hillsborough.
